What information do we collect? - Personal information
'Personal information' is defined as any information or opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent or can be readily identified from the information or opinion.

Site statistics
The number of visits to pages on our web site is logged to assist us record the volume of traffic to the web site. We also record the following monthly statistics:
- how many times pages are accessed and documents downloaded
- which countries users come from
- the average time that people stay on the web site
- the average number of pages that are accessed by users
- the previous web sites visited (eg which search engines are referring people the most)
- the type of browsers and operating systems used
- any errors generated when people attempt to access pages that do not exist.
Site statistics information collected is used to identify patterns of usage of the web site. This assists us to improve the web site and the services offered on it. Information on browsers and operating systems helps ensure our web site is compatible with as many of our users' systems as possible. Information on errors helps us check when a link to our web site is broken.
We do not record your server name, IP address or any other information which might identify an individual user. Our internet service provider does offer the ability to access some of this information, but the Office of Employment Equity and Diversity and the Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment do not record it.
Cookies are used on our web site to aid user authentication for people doing the Merit Selection training.
How do we use the information collected? - Personal information
We use personal details only to:
- respond to your communication
- keep records of correspondence
- track progress of on-line students and provide them with certificates of attainment
- provide information to subscribers to on-line forums (only if your information has been supplied for this purpose)
- publish personal stories (only if your information has been supplied for this purpose)
- do any thing which is required to be done in accordance with the reason you supplied the information.

What exceptions are there?
We may collect, use and disclose more information than stated above if:

All information we collect is stored in files within the Office of Employment Equity and Diversity or on our computer system. We have security arrangements in place for information storage. We destroy or archive information after a period of time in accordance with Government policy.
What will we do with information provided in feedback?
We provide feedback facilities on our web site to allow users to comment on the web site, to ask general questions on EEO in the NSW Public Sector or to comment on the provision of service by the Office of Employment Equity and Diversity or the Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment.
You may choose to provide personal details, eg so that you can receive a reply. This information will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided. We will not make any other use of the information without your consent.
