Merit selection can take many forms

The good practice examples and ideas that follow suggest that many strategies can be used to achieve employment outcomes. These include:

  • selecting and appointing a person to a vacant position in the usual way
  • targeting advertisements to invite applications for vacancies from particular EEO groups
  • adjusting selection procedures for determining merit
  • directly appointing temporary employees who have demonstrated merit on-the-job by using clause 10.
