EEO Outcomes in the NSW Public Sector
The NSW Government strives to achieve the following outcomes:
- a diverse and skilled workforce
- improved employment access and participation by EEO groups
- a workplace culture displaying fair workplace practices and behaviours
- improved customer service as staff reflect the diversity in the community
- organisations have access to a wider talent pool.
Strategic interventions include recruitment programs, training, networking, career development, mentoring and succession planning that pay particular attention to the situation of employees in the EEO groups.
With an ageing population, government agencies, like other employers, face the risk of large scale retirement of their existing workforces1. Consequently, such strategies are critical to ensure that agencies are attracting and retaining the best talent as part of their broader workforce planning strategies.
